Miss World Australia Finalists from WINK
We couldn’t be more proud of Alexandra Wallace, Alison Mitchell and Lavinia White who have made it into the NSW state finals of Miss World Australia! We are even more proud that they have used this opportunity to bust beauty stereotypes and make a stance for seeing the importance of confidence and brains over looks.
In an article in the Daily Telegraph titled “Our five Miss World NSW finalists bust the ‘beauty-only’ stereotype” the girls reiterate how important busting the sterotype is.
“Everyone thinks we’re not the brightest but today I’ve met lawyers and business women. It’s incredible!” – Alexandra
A second article in the Daily Telegraph titled “Miss World Australia finalists reveal why they prefer activewear over bikinis during competition”, the girls discuss the axing of the bikini section in Miss World.
“I never considered entering a beauty pageant before but my friends and family were pushing me for it. I’m not tall but I wanted to do it to challenge my own perception of what a model is.”
“It takes away that element of superficiality,” – Lavinia
We wish our girls the best of luck for the remainder of the pageant!
