CLIENT FAQs

How do I book a model or talent through Wink Models?

Contact us via our online form or call +61 8005 4388 with your brief. We’ll call you to talk through your budget, timeline and brief in detail, then send a shortlist of talent who match your brief, budget and availability. Once you’ve reviewed the shortlist and confirmed your pick, we lock in the booking.

How far in advance should I book, and what's the turnaround from enquiry?

Most clients start casting 2-3 weeks before their shoot or event, but we can accommodate fast turnarounds, including same-day bookings. From the moment we receive your enquiry, we provide talent options within 12 hours. After that, timing depends on whether you’re running a casting or selecting directly from photos, comp cards or self-tapes. Book as early as possible to secure your preferred talent, but last-minute requests are welcome.

Do you provide talent for TV commercials and video, or just print and stills?

Both, and more. Our roster includes fashion and commercial models, actors, and UGC content creators and influencers, so we supply talent for TVCs, online video, print campaigns, eCommerce, lookbooks, social/UGC content, fit modelling, hand modelling, and live events. Some of our talent also have significant acting and presenting experience, including hero roles in TVCs for brands like Nivea, Audi, Oral-B, Sony, Mitsubishi, and Commbank, among many others.

Which locations do you cover?

We represent talent based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and regularly facilitate bookings in regional areas as well as metro and capital cities, in addition to studio work.

What usage rights are included in a standard booking?

Our standard quote includes 12 months of digital usage. Broader or longer-term usage, for example print, out-of-home, or extended terms, is agreed upfront and attracts an additional usage fee, which we’ll outline clearly in your quote.

How do you select or vet the talent you represent?

All talent are vetted before joining our roster. This includes a review of their portfolio, modelling or acting experience, and current digitals, followed by an in-person casting with our team before we sign them. Every model or actor we put forward has already met our standards.

What are your standard shoot hours?

You can book for as many hours as you need at our hourly rate. We also offer discounted rates for half-day (up to 4 hours) and full-day (up to 8 hours) bookings.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancellations within 24 hours of the shoot incur 100% of the agreed price, within 48 hours incur 75%, and anything earlier than that incurs 50%. Full details are in our Terms and Conditions.

Do you handle contracts and model releases on our behalf?

We sign all relevant documentation on the talent’s behalf, including managing their tax and superannuation obligations as part of our intermediary payroll structure. Contracts are typically provided by the client, and we’ll work with you to make sure everything is in order before the shoot.

Can we see a portfolio, reel or run a casting before confirming a booking?

Yes. Portfolios, comp cards and self-tapes are available on our website for you to review, and there’s no fee to run a casting with us. If you have a specific script or brief, talent can also film a tailored self-tape for you to review directly.

Is there a minimum booking length?

Most bookings have a 2-hour minimum, though we’re flexible where the shoot requires it.

Do you represent real families for campaigns?

Yes. This includes kids, teens, grandparents and babies, individually or as a family unit. Get in touch with our team to discuss your brief and we’ll put together suitable options.

Can talent arrive shoot-ready, with hair, makeup and grooming already done?

Yes, talent can arrive with hair and makeup done and ready to shoot, and can arrange a professional manicure ahead of the booking if needed — just share a reference image so we can brief this in correctly. This is available at an additional cost, which we’ll include in your quote. Talent can also provide their own wardrobe if required.

MODEL FAQs

Before you apply

What does Wink Models do, and how long have you been operating?

Wink Models is a commercial modelling agency that’s been operating for over 20 years, representing models and influencers across NSW, VIC and QLD. We work across fashion, TV commercials, print and travel/tourism campaigns, submitting talent for inbound briefs as well as pitching talent directly to brands we think they’re a good fit for.

Who does Wink represent?

Wink represents a wide range of talent beyond traditional fashion models, including curve models, classics (mature-age models), and actors and models with unique looks, all working on paid commercial campaigns across NSW, VIC and QLD.

What kind of work can I get?

Wink books talent across fashion and commercial modelling, TVCs, online video, print campaigns, eCommerce, lookbooks, social/UGC content, fit modelling, hand modelling and promotional events, plus influencer work if you have 10k+ followers. Hand modelling is offered as an add-on to your profile rather than a standalone category.

How much do models get paid?

It varies significantly from job to job, depending on the hours, usage and scope involved. Every rate is disclosed to you before you accept a booking, so there’s never any guesswork.

Applying to join

How can I apply to join Wink as a model?

Complete our online application form via the link, making sure you meet our age, height, location and portfolio requirements first. Because of how many applications we receive, we’re not able to respond individually to unsuccessful applicants.

What are the requirements to apply?

You’ll need a professional portfolio — real images that actually show what you look like, not selfies, phone pics, filters or screenshots — and be serious about modelling as a career. For commercial modelling specifically, we generally look for female applicants 5’7″ and above and male applicants 5’11” and above, and represent talent aged 18 and over. If you don’t quite meet the profile, keep building your portfolio and apply when you’re ready.

Which states do you operate in?

We represent talent based in Australia, specifically NSW, VIC and QLD, with full legal working rights required. We facilitate bookings across Australia, with international campaigns coming up as opportunities arise, but can’t accept overseas applications or holiday-visa applicants without work rights.

Is there a cost to join Wink as a model?

No — there’s no cost to join Wink as a model. Simply submit an application through the form on our website, and there’s no charge at any stage of being represented by us.

Once you're signed

Is there a contract, and do I have to be exclusive with Wink?

Yes. All talent sign a contract, which you can end at any time by giving 30 days’ written notice. Wink is your exclusive agent for modelling work, but you’re free to have separate agents for specialist work like acting, music, theatre or dance.

What if I'm offered modelling work directly, outside of Wink?

We’d rather you bring it to us to manage — it keeps us across everything you’re doing, so there’s no overlap when we pitch you for other work, and we’ll take care of the admin, including making sure your super is paid and you’re paid on time.

Do I need to be available full-time?

No — many of our talent study or work full or part-time elsewhere. You do need enough flexibility to attend castings and take time off for confirmed jobs; if you’re regularly unavailable for castings, we’ll need to review whether representation is still a good fit.

How many modelling jobs can I expect to book?

It varies a lot — some talent book 1–3 jobs a week, others 1–3 a month, depending on your look, experience, portfolio quality, casting performance and how busy the industry is. We only get paid when you do, so we’re motivated to get you as much work as possible.

Do I need any certifications before I start?

Not required, but relevant certifications — like a current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) or a Working With Children Check — can open up more opportunities. Let us know about any you hold.
