A WINK recap from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
It was another year of fashion, fashion, fashion at MBFWA 2018! Our Head NSW Talent Manager, Anna Mace was on hand at this years’ Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia covering every moment of the action at Carriageworks. There was a buzz around the industry’s finest designers, stylists, models and bloggers showcasing the most sought after looks – both on the runway and in the street. Armed with her trusty camera (and dressed to impress!) she took in all the sights. Now that we’ve emerged from our fashion hangover, let’s get the scoop on this years’ Fashion Week.
Although the weather forced the SWIM show inside on Monday morning (planned location was the North Sydney Olympic Pool) the show was as epic as a Sydney Harbour view. Showcasing a collective of swimwear designers, we loved the diversity of the models chosen by each label. Even though we’re at the start of May we’re stocking up on our cozzies from Camp Cove Swim, Duskii, Fella and Pam Pam!
One of the most visually luscious shows of the week was We Are Kindred. The fragrance of the fresh flowers that enveloped the runway hit you immediately. The show’s aesthetic was flowing and feminine, and the mirrored runway reflected the light up onto the models faces. The exaggerated hats made us want to get an invite to a garden party ASAP.
Roopa transported us into an Indian dream filled with bold colour and flowing silk. They are champions of ethical fashion, with “each piece in designed in collaboration with skilled craftspeople” in their headquarters in India, Australia and the USA. They describe their workspace as a “peaceful ‘yogic’ working environment” where staff are not only paid higher than average but are also up-skilled with classes in financial independence. All of this towards enabling them to “improve their livelihood and support their families”.
At the ACTIVE show, P.E Nation, B.O.D by Finch, Jasmine Alexa and Koral all showcased. P.E Nation premiered their highly anticipated menswear range. As an unashamed Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fan, Anna got a bit excited to shoot Delilah Belle (who opened the show for Koral). Mum Lisa Rinna or dad Harry Hamlin weren’t in sight, but Anna was hoping Erika Jayne made it into Delilah’s suitcase!
